I am an accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor and integrative body and movement therapist. I am trained and experienced in supporting people, including those who are suffering in body and mind, to find self-acceptance, lifestyle balance and connection with their unique gifts and resources for life.
My professional approaches are underpinned by UK accredited trainings (listed below) and my clients bring a range of issues affecting their physical, emotional and mental health.
I came to this work in part through my own experiences of pain, ill health and estrangement from my body which began in my teens. I was also affected by social conditioning which taught me to objectify and feel dissatisfied with my body as it looked. I had no idea how much I was denying of myself and hiding from the world!
Talking, body and movement therapies have supported me to rediscover a healthy relationship to myself in my body. Instead of rejecting my body, I began to understand ‘it’ as ‘me’ and as a barometer of my wellbeing with important information for me to understand. I continue refining my ability to make sense of what my body is communicating with me, which has supported me to live more in balance, health and know my authority and self-worth. A keystone to my health and self-worth has been remembering and taking care of what is meaningful to me: feeling at home in my own skin, being authentic or ‘real’ in relation to others, spending time in Nature, knowing my connection to the ‘bigger picture’ and living with awareness of my impact in the world, being playful and humourous, supporting campaigns for justice, health and wellbeing for all people, animals and ecosystems, eating, dancing and doing the work I love, are some of those.
I love my practice, my work with clients and feeling the connection to life within and around me.
